摘要: Public participation is increasingly used to both study and manage marine bio-invasions. Here, we outline the use of public surveys rapidly acquire information on very first stages colonisation by invasive Pterois miles in Mediterranean Sea. Interviews with 105 fishermen, spearfishers scuba divers Lebanon provided evidence a proliferation rapid expansion species, whose presence at time survey was less than that true invasion. We also evaluate role stakeholders sea users responding this emerging hazard, investigating awareness willingness collaborate managing efforts. These findings showed potential local communities ecological knowledge not available scientists working alone. This participative approach consolidates dialogue partnership between researchers ameliorating civil response time-sensitive conservation issues.
