摘要: Drop rebound is a spectacular event that appears after impact on hydrophobic or superhydrophobic surfaces but can also be induced through the so-called Leidenfrost effect. Here we demonstrate drop originate from another physical phenomenon, solid substrate sublimation. Through experiments surface, hot plate, and carbon dioxide (commonly known as dry ice), compare based three different mechanisms, which apparently share nothing in common (superhydrophobicity, evaporation, sublimation), lead to same phenomenon an extremely wide temperature range, $300\text{ }\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}\mathrm{C}$ down even below $\ensuremath{-}79\text{ }\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}\mathrm{C}$. The formation unprecedented visualization of air vortex ring around impacting are reported.
