摘要: A mono-component intumescent flame retardant named pentaerythritol phosphate melamine salt (PPMS) was grafted on the surface of carbon black (CB) to obtain PPMS-grafted CB (PPMS-CB). The obtained PPMS-CB well characterized and then incorporated into epoxy resins (EPs) investigate retardancy smoke suppression properties. Thermo-gravimetric analysis indicates that synergism between PPMS could improve char-forming ability EP composites. Limiting oxygen index (LOI) UL94 vertical burning tests reveal composite with 15 mass% achieves a LOI value 26.2% passes UL94 V-1 rating, while same addition only UL94 V-2 rating 22.7%. Cone calorimeter density show incorporation obviously decreases heat release production EPs, for example, 66.9% reduction in peak rate, 54.3% rate 36.5% are observed case PPMS-CB. excellent performance EP/PPMS-CB composites can be ascribed formation more cross-linking structures containing N P condensed phase, thus producing compact continuous char acts as thermally stable barrier against mass transfer. Overall, chemical combination provides new approach develop highly efficient corresponding super flame-retarded polymer materials.
