摘要: Introduction: The aim of this prospective longitudinal clinical study was to evaluate the short-term and long-term changes in dental-arch dimensions patients treated with acrylic splint rapid maxillary expander early mixed dentition followed by fixed appliances permanent dentition. Methods: dental casts 51 consecutively (TG) were compared those 26 untreated controls (CG) at 3 different times: pretreatment (T1), after expansion appliance therapy (T2), observation (T3). mean ages for TG 8 years 10 months T1, 13 T2, 19 9 T3. Arch widths, arch depth, perimeter, molar angulation assessed all subjects times. T1-T2, T2-T3, T1-T3 statistically respect corresponding CG. Results: Treatment an RME produced significantly favorable almost mandibular measurements. amount change both intermolar intercanine widths fully corrected initial discrepancies. Approximately 4 mm relative increase 2.5 additional maintenance perimeter observed Conclusions: These results suggest that protocol is effective stable treatment constricted arches, can relieve modest deficiencies perimeter.
