Determination of efficient and inefficient greenhouse cucumber producers using Data Envelopment Analysis approach, a case study: Jiroft city in Iran

摘要: Abstract The aims of this study were to determine energy use pattern, investigate the efficiency using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) methodology discriminate efficient farmers from inefficient ones and identify wasteful uses in order optimize inputs greenhouse cucumber production Jiroft city Iran. Data obtained 60 a face questionnaire method. results indicated that consumed total 306,117.57 MJ ha −1 which 58.5% was provided by diesel fuel. Energy efficiency, productivity net found be 0.51, 0.64 kg MJ and −149317.57 MJ ha , respectively. models, 26.7% 73.3% technically pure efficient, average technical, technical scale scores calculated as 0.87, 0.99 0.88, Optimum requirement 288,168.59 MJ ha indicating 11% input could saved if recommendations are followed. A possible suggestion can drawn is future agricultural policies include measures improve capacity producers apply available technology more efficiently. This implemented improving ease access extension services, or trying raise educational level producers. GHG emissions high CO 2 output fuel consumption.
