Structural and microstructural study of novel stacked toroidal carbon nanotubes.

摘要: Abstract The work presents a new carbon nanostructure in the form of stacked toroidal nanotubes (STCNT) crystallized from gas phase through catalyst-free deposition process. Vapor-grown STCNT were obtained on graphite substrate using methane as source carbon. structure was analyzed Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM/EDX), Raman spectroscopy, Diffraction and photoelectron spectroscopy. TEM images revealed that nanostructured consisted single element (toroid) composed rolled multi-walled nanotubes. SEM/EDX study different sites showed presence pure structure. average external diameter toroid 1000 nm, distance between neighboring toroids 100 nm. space inside contained spheres made turbostratic crystallites.
