摘要: Most recent articles on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction focus anatomic tunnel placement, but reviewing the early history of ACL it can be seen that at beginning 20th century Ernest Hey-Groves had already pointed out importance placement tunnels. Palmer even developed a femoral drill guide for precise placing before World War II. The possibility graft fixation without any material is also not new and was described as 1967 by Bruckner from Rostock. Many techniques in with non-anatomic high failure rates could have been avoided if surgeons aware what pioneers this important field orthopedic surgery described.
