摘要: Abstract Microbial biomass growth, S mineralization after compost amendment (plant seeding) and uptake by African millet at d 30, 60 120 (first, second, third cutting, respectively) were monitored in an S-deficient soil amended with cattle manure (CMC), saw dust (SDC) or rice husk (RHC) the rate of 20 t ha −1 presence absence growing millet. A chemical fertilizer (CF) treatment 30 μg g along a control (CT) was included for comparison. CMC produced significantly larger microbial biomass-C -S than SDC RHC. In planted soil, during rapid growth millet, biomass-S decreased more rapidly unplanted soil. Both then showed significant flush particularly 60–120 all treatments. CMC, RHC released 20, 10, 8 μg CaCl 2 extractable respectively, 5. marked increase C-to-S ratio across treatments which eventually reached 154 291 from initial value 64. Substantial organic-S observed period greatest plant but not plants. Total 37, 81 76% lower amendment, that CF. improved supplying potential addition (high ratio) resulted severe deficiency due to immobilization
