All household a new case bacillary tuberculosis. Smoking habits investigated questionnaire. Urinary cotinine was analysed. Odds Ratio (OR) adjusted for age socio-economic status using multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: risk factor (OR: 5.29; 95% confidence interval (CI): 2.33–12.82; P Conclusions: exposure to tobacco smoke associated with an increased developing infection. This is association great concern requiring health education programmes antitobacco medical advice.
