Study on the compatibility of ethylene‐vinyl acetate copolymer/vermiculite in biaxially oriented polypropylene films

摘要: A process for preparing expanded vermiculite/ethylene vinyl acetate nanocomposites by ball milling vermiculite (EVMT) in cyclohexane solution of ethylene copolymer resin (EVA) was presented, and the influence EVA/EVMT on mechanical, barrier performance modified biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films discussed this article. By process, EVMT is intercalated exfoliated to obtain a kind EVMT/EVA nanocomposite, which EVA serves as both intercalating agent into compatibilizer between (PP); so, when melt blended with PP, platelets can be easily dispersed relatively well PP matrix. Compared original (nonmodified) BOPP, loading ranged from 0.1% 0.5%, strength toughness BOPP increased. Moreover, (flakes) matrix improved properties also. The accorded Nielsen model. POLYM.
