摘要: Yeast cells are well known for their ability to survive complete dehydration, a phenomenon that is directly linked the presence of sugar trehalose in these cells. This apparently endows with capacity dehydration. Previous studies on vitro models showed must be present both sides bilayer stabilize dry membranes. The report demonstrates specific carrier seems enable protect yeast cell membrane by translocating from cytosol extracellular environment. Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutant strains which lack did not after dehydration although they accumulated endogenous trehalose. Furthermore, when mutants were dehydrated exogenous became more resistant showing increased survival.
