摘要: Streptococcal heme binding protein (Shp) is involved in the process of acquisition group A Streptococcus (GAS). However, no research thus far has examined contribution Shp to virulence GAS. To this end, we generated an isogenic strain lacking shp gene (Δshp) and its complemented (Δshp-c) using parent MGAS5005 (WT). Deletion increased survival rates neutrophil recruitment reduced skin lesion sizes GAS loads blood liver, lung, kidney spleen subcutaneous infections mice. These results indicate that significantly contributes systemic invasion The growth Δshp mutant was slower than Δshp-c non-immune human incubation with isolated rat neutrophils. Microarray transcriptional analyses found alteration expression genes, indicating phenotype directly linked lack Shp. findings invasion, infection these contributions are mediated by effects on responses.
