摘要: Auditory brainstem-evoked responses (ABR) were recorded from the scalp of 30 normoacoustic insulin-dependent diabetic subjects, aged between 15 and 41 yr (29 +/- 7 yr). Three different stimulus repetition rates (11, 37, 87 cps) used. The results compared with those obtained 20 age- sex-matched, control subjects. In patients, metabolic (mean daily plasma glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin) presence retinopathy, nephropathy, somatic neuropathy also investigated. latencies (ms) ABR waves significantly impaired in subjects as normals. Peripheral transmission time (wave I) central (waves I-V) delayed Moreover, by increasing rates, a significant increase I-V shift was observed patients. impairment not related to glucose balance, duration diabetes, or neuropathy. conclusion, is characterized only autonomic nerve dysfunctions, but early involvement nervous system (CNS). recording can represent useful, noninvasive, simple procedure detect both acoustic CNS damage.
