摘要: This review summarizes neurobiological and genetic findings in behavioral addictions, draws parallels with pertaining to substance use disorders offers suggestions for future research. Articles concerning brain function, neurotransmitter activity family history/genetics addictions involving gambling, internet use, video game playing, shopping, kleptomania sexual were reviewed. Behavioral involve dysfunction several regions, particularly the frontal cortex striatum. Findings from imaging studies incorporating cognitive tasks have arguably been more consistent than cue-induction studies. Early results suggest white gray matter differences. Neurochemical roles dopaminergic serotonergic systems, but clinical trials seem equivocal. While limited, history/genetic data support heritability pathological gambling that those are likely a close member some form of psychopathology. Parallels exist between genetic/family history non-substance suggesting compulsive engagement these behaviors may constitute addictions. date behavior. Genetic understandings at an early stage. Future research directions offered.
