Nonlinear magneto-optical response to light carrying orbital angular momentum

摘要: We predict a nonthermal magneto-optical effect for magnetic insulators subject to intense light carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM). Using classical approach second harmonic generation in nonlinear media with specific symmetry properties we significant contribution the local field triggered by OAM. The resulting originates from displacement of electrons driven electrical (with amplitude E0) spatially inhomogeneous optical pulse, modeled here as Laguerre–Gaussian beam In particular, irradiated magnet allow responses which are second-order and fourth-order electric-field strength have opposite signs. For sufficiently high laser intensities, terms dominate generate strengths can be large several Tesla. Moreover, changing OAM is shown determine direction total light-induced field, further utilized study theoretically magnetization dynamics.
