摘要: Review supplemented by inception cohort. To review trends in the incidence, prevalence, demographic characteristics, etiology, injury severity and selected treatment outcomes of traumatic spinal cord (SCI). International US model systems An extensive literature was conducted to identify all relevant studies descriptive epidemiology SCI. This analyses SCI that are reflected National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center Shriners Hospital databases. Incidence prevalence United States higher than rest world. Average age at is increasing accordance with an aging general population risk. The proportion cervical injuries increasing, whereas neurologically complete decreasing. Injuries due falls increasing. Recent gains life expectancy not population. Treatment changing as a result changes health care delivery. Within prevalent population, percentage elderly persons will increase meaningfully until high mortality rates observed among older significantly improve. Those who reach ages typically have incomplete and/or lower level injuries, relatively degrees independence overall good health.
