摘要: The human face has the greatest mobility and facial display repertoire among all primates. However, variables that account for this are not clear. Humans other anthropoids have remarkably similar mimetic musculature. This suggests differences muscles alone may increased seen in humans. Furthermore, themselves outpace prosimians these categories: humans > other anthropoids > prosimians. study was undertaken to clarify morphological underpinnings of by investigating SMAS (the superficial musculo-aponeurotic system), a connective tissue layer enclosing musculature located between skin deep fascia/periosteum. Full-thickness samples from near zygoma region Homo sapiens (humans, N = 3), Pan troglodytes (chimpanzees, Hylobates muelleri (gibbons, N = 1), Macaca mulatta (rhesus macaque, N = 3) Tarsius bancanus (tarsiers, Otolemur crassicaudatus (galagos, N = 2) were used. All processed paraffin-based histology stained sections viewed under light microscopy determine if could be identified. Results indicate present anthropoid species but neither prosimian species. factor Anat Rec, 299:1779–1788, 2016. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
