摘要: Over the past 15 years research concerning neural basis of emotion has flourished. Progress been especially swift in studies systems underlying fear (see Davis 1992; Kapp et al. 1994; LeDoux 1996). Although there is still much to be known, system stands as one most well-defined functional brain. Across using a variety species, training conditions, and labs, structure—the amygdala—has consistently shown play critical role mediation fear. To specific, amygdala for learning previously neutral stimuli, activating defensive behaviors response learned, well innate, threats (for review see Nevertheless, other structures, such medial prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, septum, contribute to, or modulate, processing by resulting expression (e.g., Blanchard Fial 1968; Seiden 1991; Kim Fanselow Phillips Morgan 1993; Sparks 1995; Maren 1996; Frankland 1998). This chapter examines contribution septum behaviors.
