摘要: The emergence of a new class high strength (0.2% proof stress 450-500 MPa) and ultra-high up to 700MPa) aluminium alloys for use in structural applications the aircraft aerospace industries is reviewed. In this important alloys, tensile yield attributable precipitation strengthening associated predominantly with formation nano-scale (<2 nm thickness), metastable plate-shaped precipitates on either {100} or {111} planes an matrix. identity distribution these may be controlled by microalloying additions and, some cases, plastic deformation prior hardening treatment. design examined those factors controlling their behaviour thus potential are discussed. Particular emphasis given based Al-Cu(-Li) system, microalloyed Mg Ag, but attention also drawn marked similarities that characterise structures mode intermediate phases control class.
