The altitude coverage of temperature measurements using RASS with wind profiler radars

摘要: The Radio Acoustic Sounding System (RASS) technique for measuring temperature profiles with good time and height resolution has been applied using wind profiling radars operating at three frequencies (49.8, 404.37 915MHz). performance of the systems is discussed in terms altitude coverage measurements physical processes limiting coverage. lower can probe greater altitudes, but 49.8MHz profilers have a minimum range about 2.1 km their usefulness some studies. These preliminary results indicate that use RASS concert promise operational meteorology.
