摘要: THE invasion of mesquite into large areas range and pasture lands in the Southwest has been progressing for many years, but only within recent years it become major concern to livestock raisers. In general is considered undesirable because reduced carrying capacity by forming dense jungles brush on once productive lowlands that have deep soils favorable moisture conditions. Mesquite hindered greatly managing caring use desirable improvement practices. 1896 J. G. Smith (15), an agrostologist stationed at Abilene, Texas, called attention hardy, aggressive nature rather accurately predicted problem we face today. Texas alone surveys Soil Conservation Service (2) show occurs 55 million acres grassland 113 counties moderate or stands occupy approximately 30 acres.
