摘要: The physical and biologic characteristics of a new synthetic absorbable monofilament suture, glycolide trimethylene carbonate (GTMC) are presented. suture was formulated to combine predictable in vivo performance sutures with the handling suture. Three studies were described: strength, gross microscopic absorption reaction, radiolabelled decay. carried out rats showed cumulative strength retention sizes 0, 00, 4-0 5-0 81 per cent at 14 days, 59 28 days 30 42 days. Strength consistent throughout size spectrum. Absorption 00 studied subcutaneous implantations rabbits. Histologic assessment obtained from serial sections intervals three nine months that, both sizes, complete occurred between six seven months. At months, 83 absorbed 93 absorbed. no implanted material discernible histologically. Untoward tissue reactions, such as acute inflammatory cells, abscesses or necrosis, not observed. There signs cellular mobilization any kind observed remote implant. GTMC achieved through action mononuclear multinuclear macrophages which confined implant sequestered by fibrous connective capsule. When complete, resorbtion macrophage component replaced narrow cord collagen. results tissues revealed urine expired CO2 be major excretary routes metabolites. By 22 24 weeks, 0.1 0.7 total radioactivity remained sites. Tissue deposition excretion suggests similar metabolism species. We conclude that maintain good little during critical wound healing period, absorbs completely minimal reaction and, therefore, provides an absorbable, flexible, extended support is strong effective.
