Chronic pain health literacy: A scoping review of existing instruments

摘要: Abstract Aim Patient self-management is considered one of the preconditions for successful control chronic conditions (including pain), and health literacy a relevant factor that can affect patient outcomes. The aim was to conduct scoping review synthesize studies within healthcare context have dealt with pain in adults measured literacy, also explore what instruments were used. Methods After determining clear inclusion exclusion criteria, 8 electronic databases searched articles; additional articles obtained through reference lists articles. Of 56 records screened, 14 included data abstraction. Results Most (n = 11) quantitative most based on definition focused individuals, i.e. either their reading level or abilities access, read, understand, appraise, act information. Correspondingly, (n = 10) individual-level characteristics; they did so mainly examine relationship between various pain-related variables. conducted USA Germany. Conclusions Chronic topic emerging research. However, are generic oriented towards individuals. Thus, pain-specific should be developed, existing expanded include contextual factors as well. Research urgently needed non-Western countries, especially given current predicted future global trends concerning pain.
