摘要: Pattern electroretinogram (PERG) results recorded in different laboratories from patients with unilateral traumatic transections of the optic nerve have led investigators to opposite conclusions about sources this response. There was no absolute demonstration complete transection any these studies. In present study, PERGs and flash ERGs were a patient who, 30 months earlier, had undergone surgical resection right remove glioma. The histological section biopsied confirmed transection. Ophthalmoscopically angiographically, eye normal except for marked atrophy. produced by 10 Hz reversal high contrast checks check widths 13 deg min 12 arc. Field size 27 X 21 space-averaged screen luminance 110 cd/m 2 . Smaller (3 23 min) responses both eyes, but much smaller than those left eye. Large diffuse flashes approximately equal two eyes. implicit times stimulation shorter authors conclude that, humans, there is contribution pattern ERG cells which are not dependent upon integrity ganglion cell layer. These may contribute PERG human Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci 28:492-499, 1987
