摘要: The name of the spinose odontopleurid trilobiteSelenopeltis Hawle & Corda, 1847, has been given to a characteristic endemic fauna inhabiting shallow Ordovician seas around northern margin Gondwana. First described in detail byJoachim Barrande (1852) from Bohemia, genus since identified species strata South Wales, Shropshire, Brittany, Montagne Noire, Spain, Portugal and ?Iraq. This paper describes new material Anti Atlas Region Morocco. Together with Bohemia general description is including details hypostoma illustrated for first time approximate position beneath cephalon. Reliable meaningful criteria distinguishing various assigned theSelenopeltis buchi group are lacking there appears be gradual series earliestS. cf.buchi early Llanvirn Wales CaradocS. Welsh Borderland, Morocco.S. macrophthalma (Kloucek, 1916) could well forerunner ofS. which gave rise toS. vultuosa Přibyl Vaněk, 1966 during Caradoc Morocco here this extends into Ashgill. In BohemiaS. vultuosa restricted interval.Languedopeltis Pillet, 1988 (type speciesS. binodosus Dean, 1966) considered synonym ofSelenopeltis.
