摘要: Proceedings: AACR 106th Annual Meeting 2015; April 18-22, Philadelphia, PA Many cancer therapies are intended to induce cell death within a target tumour. A substantial body of research using in vitro and vivo models has demonstrated that can be detected via quantitative ultrasound techniques. This study investigated the potential quantify tumour responses therapy patients, spectral textural biomarkers extracted from low-frequency data (4-10 MHz). Results demonstrate for first time large cohort patients ability predict clinical responders non-responders as early one week after start chemotherapy with over 95% sensitivity specificity. A was undertaken investigating efficacy tumor treatment. Patients (n = 100) locally advanced breast received anthracyline taxane-based treatments four six months. Data collection consisted acquiring images radiofrequency prior treatment onset at 4 times during neoadjuvant (weeks 0, 1, 4, 8 pre-operatively). carried out an Ultrasonix-RP L15-5 6cm transducer pulsed frequencies ∼5 ∼7 MHz, respectively. The majority went on have modified radical mastectomy correlative whole mount histopathology. Results obtained both MHz indicated considerable increases backscatter power who clinically responded starting their chemotherapy. accompanied by significant parameters such mid-band-fit (up 9.1 ± 1.2 dBr) 0-MHz intercept 10.8 2.4 dBr). categorized poor significantly lower (1.9 1.1 dBr 1.4 2.7 intercept, respectively). Textural parametric maps also differences trend between responding non-responding initiation. Statistically were found patient populations weeks initiation. Applying order incorporate response heterogeneities resulted statistically these two only There associated survival groups patients. ultrasound-detected 1 had 90+/-5% 3 year whereas no same 30+/10% (p<0.05). This demonstrates changes tumours administration setting. results indicate course potentially permit ineffective changed more efficacious ones leading improved outcomes framework personalized medicine.
