摘要: Background Post-ischaemic benzodiazepine administration is neuroprotective, but chronic of benzodiazepines can induce tolerance, such that the neuroprotective effect may be reduced. This study investigated whether tolerance worsen ischaemic injury and neuroprotection by post-ischaemic affected tolerance. We also antagonism receptors flumazenil was able to restore during Methods Experiments were performed in both benzodiazepine-tolerant naive rats. Benzodiazepine indeed 4 weeks flurazepam. Bilateral carotid artery occlusion (BCAO) cause cerebral ischaemia. Four experiments performed: (1) BCAO with no further interventions; (2) followed diazepam; (3) before BAO; (4) diazepam after BCAO. Neurological histological assessment 5 days Results did not affect neuronal CA1 CA3 regions dentate gyrus hippocampus severe insult, damage when mild ischaemia applied (P Conclusions abolish provided diazepam. Pre-treatment treatment reversed restored These findings suggest management patient’s risk developing need take into account current use.
