摘要: The polyploid species complex of Rosa villosa sensu lato (Rosa section Caninae subsection Vestitae) consists three morphologically similar species: R. sherardii, R. mollis and R. villosa. Whereas R. sherardii is distributed in central Europe, R. villosa represent a vicariant pair occurring northern Europe mountains eastern respectively. In this study we analysed multiple data sets (morphology, cytology, microsatellites, AFLP plastid DNA sequences) to re-evaluate the systematics these examine whether cytological differences are reflected taxonomy geographical distributions. Furthermore, were used evaluate hypotheses explaining distribution None revealed clear-cut differentiation between species. Cytological molecular argued for discrete taxonomic position predominantly pentaploid but did not support separation mostly tetraploid Population genetics that samples latter assembled according ploidy, affiliation or distribution. Thus, assume cytologically polymorphic original had continuous range prior last glaciation period survived on nunataks non-glaciated coastal regions it failed recover its former after retreat ice sheets. © 2013 Linnean Society London, Botanical Journal Society, 2014, 174, 240–256.
