摘要: Abstract The subsidence history of the Nova Scotia and Labrador shelves, determined from deep exploratory well data, indicates that these regions underwent extension during rifting in Early Jurassic Late Cretaceous, respectively, have since subsided passively due to conductive cooling lithosphere. timing process is consistent with ages oldest sea floor adjacent margins. Extension parameters Scotian margin indicate both crustal subcrustal material extended by approximately same amount. For Labrador, mantle lithosphere was considerably more than crust. magnitudes on margins are good agreement observed thickness seismic refraction data. Profiles depicting sedimentary stratigraphies depth basement were constructed across each margin. temperature distribution within sediments calculated using a two-dimensional model sediment units varying thickness, radioactive heat production, conductivity. bottom hole temperatures measured wells, surface flow measurements where they available. Similar plots paleotemperature suggest thermal conditions been favorable for hydrocarbon generation some older strata.
