摘要: Detecting and accurately locating snipers has been an elusive goal of the armed forces law enforcement agencies for a long time. Most successful sniper-detecting systems are based on acoustic measurements. We develop system that works well even in complex urban environments. Funded through Network Embedded Systems Technology program US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Information Exploitation Office, PinPtr uses wireless network many low-cost sensors to determine both shooter's location bullet's trajectory by measuring muzzle blast shock wave. The sensor-fusion algorithm, which runs base station, performs search hyper-surface defined consistency function. This function provides number sensor measurements consistent with hypothetical shooter positions shot times. algorithm automatically classifies eliminates those result from multipath effects or otherwise erroneous. A fast finds global maximum surface, corresponds position.
