摘要: Reproductive traits are key parameters for the evolution of invasiveness in weedy crop–wild hybrids. In Beta vulgaris, cultivated beets hybridize with their wild relatives seed production areas, giving rise to hybrid weed beets. We investigated genetic structure, variation first-year flowering and mating system among beet populations occurring within sugar fields. No spatial structure was found composed F1 contrast, backcrossed emerging from bank showed a strong isolation-by-distance pattern. Whereas gametophytic self-incompatibility prevents selfing populations, all studied had mixed-mating system, plausibly because introgression crop-derived Sf gene that disrupts self-incompatibility. significant relationship between outcrossing rate local density found, suggesting no trends shift environmental effects. further reveal increased may stem positive selection on induction depending B inherited wild. Finally, we discuss practical applied consequences our findings crop-weed management.
