摘要: Abstract Records of 1,298 consecutive patients who had received the St. Jude Medical prosthesis were reviewed (713 male and 585 female patients; mean age, 61.79 ± 13.4 years). Early mortality was 5.7% (74 patients). Ninety-three percent complete follow-up accomplished for 1,224 left hospital (4,306.50 patient-years). One hundred ninety-two these died, a late 16.9%. Sixty-four experienced thromboembolic episodes (17 major 35 permanent). Twenty-four anticoagulant-related bleeding, 4 valve thrombosis, 7 prosthetic endocarditis, 9 paravalvular leak, 10 underwent reoperation. There no structural failure in this series. Twenty-two 118 valve-related complications died; another 15 died sudden unknown causes. Therefore, total number deaths 37. Of those survived, New York Heart Association functional class improved significantly (98% classes II III preoperatively 96% I postoperatively). Linearized rates thromboembolism, bleeding 1.49 % 0.19 , 0.09 0.05 0.56 0.11 / 100 patientyears, respectively. The actuarial estimate incidence free from all complications, operative death, death 66.9% 8.2% at end years. In spite old age advanced heart disease, very good results over 10-year period.
