摘要: Violent media has often been blamed for severe violent acts. Following recent findings that violence in movies increased substantially over the last few decades, this research examined whether such increases were related to trends acts of violence. Annual rates movie and gun compared homicide aggravated assault between years 1960 2012. Time series analyses found films negatively, although nonsignificantly, homicides assaults. These nonsignificant negative relations remained present even after controlling various extraneous variables. RESULTS suggest caution is warranted when generalizing research, conducted primarily laboratories via questionnaires, societal behavior. Language: en
