Intervertebral measurement of lumbar segmental motion with a new measuring device

摘要: A new Intervertebral Motion Device (IMD) was developed in this study. Depending on its configuration, the IMD used to measure motion sagittal, frontal, and transverse planes. Calibration results showed that root-mean-square (RMS) error of 0.092 mm axial translation, 0.065 shear 0.091 rotation. Using IMD, nine intact human lumbosacral spine specimens (L3-S1) were tested under a simulated physiological load an MTS (Model 858 Bionix, System Corporation Minneapolis, MN). The ranges (ROMs) instrumented measured terms angular (main motion) coupled translation sagittal plane, plane. demonstrated fusion with CS instrumentation at level L4-L5 significantly decreased ROMs for all main motions (P < 0.03). application CD rods had less influence ROM L/R rotation compared Flex/Ext lateral bending.
