摘要: Desalination of seawater accounts for a worldwide water production. Despite the many benefits the technology has to offer, concerns rise over potential negative impacts on the environment. We studied the effect of brine on scapharca subcrenata exposed to brine discharge from desalination plant. The results show that individuals grew best at temperature from 18°C to 20°C. When the temperature exceeded 20°C, the survival rate of the individuals decreased significantly. Therefore, it is necessary to develop effective means of reducing the negative influence of brine discharged on the marine environment. The knowledge of scapharca subcrenata limits can help not only to locate desalination plants but to design disposal devices.
