摘要: Abstract Societal concerns about future hydroclimate changes urge a thorough understanding of the governing processes. Here, an analysis Middle and Late Holocene speleothem-based reconstructions paleoclimate model simulations reveals sub-millennial fluctuations in spatiotemporal variability precipitation European Mediterranean regions, that complements previous dendrochronological pollen-based with improved temporal resolution. Although insolation forcing is primary driver Europe on multimillennial scale, evaluation principal component speleothem records correlations sea surface temperature data indicates North Atlantic ocean circulation played significant role variation continental moisture transport, increasing importance during Holocene. The combined data, climate therefore advances our processes regions.
