摘要: Early hippocampal injury in humans has been found to result a limited form of global anterograde amnesia. At issue is whether the limitation qualitative, with amnesia reflecting substantially greater impairment episodic than semantic memory, or only quantitative, both and memory being partially equivalently impaired. Evidence from neuroanatomical lesion studies animals suggests that hippocampus subhippocampal cortices hierarchically organized system, such greatest convergence information (and, by implication, richest amount association) takes place within hippocampus, located at top hierarchy. On one hand, this evidence consistent view selective damage produces differential context-rich as compared context-free because latter can be supported cortices. other given system's hierarchical organization, dissociation deficits difficult prove, quantitatively deficit will nearly always viable alternative. A final choice between alternative views therefore likely depend less on further gathered brain-injured patients which accounts for more data converging approaches problem.
