摘要: A soil bacterium capable of utilizing fluoranthene as the sole source carbon and energy for growth was purified from a seven-member bacterial community previously isolated creosote waste site its ability to degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. By standard bacteriological methods, this characterized taxonomically strain Pseudomonas paucimobilis designated EPA505. Utilization by EPA 505 demonstrated increase in biomass, decrease aqueous concentration, transient formation transformation products liquid cultures where supplied source. Resting cells grown complex medium showed activity toward anthraquinone, benzo[b]fluorene, biphenyl, chrysene, pyrene disappearance parent compounds or changes their UV absorption spectra. Fluoranthene-grown resting were active against these compound well 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene, anthracene, fluoranthene, fluorene, naphthalene, phenanthrene. These studies demonstrate that organic not reported serve substrates can be utilized axenic microorganisms. Such organisms may possess novel degradative systems are other whose biological degradation has been limited because inherent structural considerations low solubility. Images
