摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the quasicrystals and approximants in C d -M systems related alloys. A diffraction pattern with icosahedral symmetry, long considered impossible classiccrystallography, A1–Mn alloy prepared by a rapid cooling technique from melt, has inspired world of solid-state science. Traditionally, “crystalline structure” is defined periodic repetition unit cell, periodicity another definition for translational strictest form long-range order. Thus, “Order crystals periodicity” knowledge long-standing crystallography. In addition, more than one hundred alloys are verified to be stable quasicrystalline phases, phases exist equilibrium phase diagrams. It been known time prior discovery that although five-fold symmetry forbidden presence two- three-dimensional translation groups, local arrangements atoms possible fact, complex metallic fairly common.
