摘要: OBJECTIVE: Patients in the stomatology service of Department Oral Surgery and Stomatology who were clinically histopathologically diagnosed with oral lichen planus (OLP) years 1995 to 2001 examined for a possible malignant transformation previously biopsied OLP site. METHOD AND MATERIALS: For 145 patients included, recordings searched initial localization type lesion, potential noxious agents, distribution between symptomatic asymptomatic types, known site during follow-up period up December 2003. RESULTS: The group comprised 47 men 98 women mean age 56.3 years. Of 497 lesions, almost half classified as reticular or papular, predominantly located on buccal mucosa, gingiva, borders tongue. Four did not adhere their scheduled control visits dropped from study. During 4 developed OLP. In 3 these cases, dysplasia was present at diagnosis This results rate 2.84% among remaining 141 patients; if are excluded, drops 0.71%. CONCLUSIONS: Until further knowledge is derived large prospective studies, data supporting negating character lesions remains inconclusive. Special emphasis has be directed toward unified inclusion exclusion criteria regarding clinical histologic findings identifiable risk factors allow comparison different studies.
