摘要: Geological and petrophysical parameters are critical in evaluating the production potential of prospective shale gas plays their economic viability for commercial development. However, based on US experience, these characteristics can vary widely. Furthermore, non-marine Cooper Basin, South Australia distinctively different from marine US. Non-marine may consist higher clay content and, thus, be less responsive to hydraulic fracturing due increased ductility. Conversely, availability sufficient amounts quartz siderite counteract this effect maintain brittleness. In study, mineral, total organic content, thermal maturity, Poisson's ratio Young's modulus data obtained Roseneath Murteree formations Basin have been compared with formations. The results show that compare well terms thickness, ratio, but not mineral formation temperature values TOC, porosity gas-in-place comparatively lower. To determine whether such economically viable will require technical, as economic, analysis process, including horizontal vertical development or basin centred developments. A play has unfavourable prospects upfront infrastructure major capital costs outweigh receipts production.
