摘要: Background We previously reported that adult female, but not male rats were prenatally exposed to methamphetamine exhibit myocardial hypersensitivity ischemic injury. However, it is unknown whether injury develops when are during adulthood. The goal of this study was determine exposure adulthood sensitizes the heart Methods Adult and female received daily injections (5 mg/kg) or saline for 10 days. Their hearts isolated on day 11 subjected a 20 min insult Langendorff apparatus. Cardiac contractile function measured by an intraventricular balloon, infarct size triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining. Results Hearts from methamphetamine-treated females exhibited significantly larger infarcts suppressed postischemic recovery compared saline-treated females. In contrast, had no effect in hearts. Subsequent experiments demonstrated persisted following 1 month period abstinence methamphetamine. Myocardial protein kinase C-e expression, Akt phosphorylation, ERK phosphorylation unaffected Conclusions Exposure sex-dependently increases extent insult. These data suggest women who have attack might be at risk more extensive if they recent history abuse.
