摘要: Hookworms of the genus Uncinaria parasitize pinniped pups in various locations worldwide. Four species have been described, two which southern hemisphere: hamiltoni parasitizes Otaria flavescens and Arctocephalus australis from South American coast, sanguinis Neophoca cinerea Australian coast. However, their geographical ranges host specificity are unknown. spp. morphologically similar, but molecular analyses allowed recognition new Uncinaria. We used nuclear genetic markers (internal transcribed spacer (ITS) large subunit (LSU) rDNA) a mitochondrial marker (cytochrome c oxidase I (COI)) to evaluate phylogenetic relationships parasitizing A. O. coasts (Atlantic Pacific coasts). compared our sequences with published sequences. A Generalized Mixed Yule Coalescent (GMYC) analysis was also delimit species, principal component compare morphometry among specimens. Parasites were sampled Peru (12°S), Chile (42°S), Uruguayan northern (24°S) Morphometric differences observed between specimens both Chile. Phylogenetic GMYC suggest that south-eastern otariid harbour U. an undescribed putative more samples necessary understand patterns across Pacific.
