摘要: Fission–fusion dynamics appear common among temperate bats where females form roost groups that change in size and composition, as switch roosts almost daily. One hypothesis for frequent switching is move to find suitable thermal conditions ambient change. Tests of this have, however, been conducted mostly at artificial structures microclimate relatively stable. The goal our study was determine whether use by northern long-eared bats, Myotis septentrionalis, trees are related conditions. We used generalized linear fixed effects models explore the influence characteristics changes on likelihood switching. canonical correlation analyses examine relationship between characteristics. Roost indeed linked together with previous day; best descriptors differed two geographical regions we analysed. In Nova Scotia, were less likely when it rained, particularly if they below surrounding canopy whereas more high decay. Females roosted shorter earlier decay classes warm days, well windy rainy days. Kentucky, temperatures, shorter, decayed small diameter Our results suggest response select roosting conditions, which may explain some proximate factors shaping fission–fusion bats.
