摘要: The ability to early detect a potential predator is essential for survival. of Iberolacerta cyreni lizards discriminate between chemical cues their two predatory snakes Coronella austriaca (a non-venomous active-hunter saurophagous specialist) and Vipera latastei venomous sit-and-wait generalist) was evaluated herein. A third snake species, Natrix maura , which does not prey on lizards, used as pungent control. Thus, the behaviour I. studied regarding four treatments: (1) C. scent, (2) V. (3) N. scent (4) odourless Lizards showed antipredator (such slow-motion tail waving) chemicals. antipredatory response similar both predators. This react with an intensive behavioural pattern may prevent from being detected, and, if dissuade beginning pursuit.
