Infrared Evanescent Absorption Spectroscopy of Toxic Chemicals Using Chalcogenide Glass Fibers

摘要: We have detected hazardous and toxic chemicals such as chlorinated hydrocarbons benzene its derivatives using evanescent wave spectroscopy with in-house drawn chalcogenide glass fibers. Although, these been readily down to the volume percent level, we make appropriate recommendations lower detection limits part per million level. While current fibers can be used in lengths of up 30 m for identification chemicals, our results indicate that remote capabilities significantly improved into several hundreds meters range loss fibers, they become available processing.
