摘要: Ocular in situ gels are a promising alternative to overcome drawbacks of conventional eye drops because they associate the advantages solutions such as accuracy and reproducibility dosing, or ease administration with prolonged contact time ointments. Chitosan is natural polymer suitable for use ophthalmic formulations due its biocompatibility, biodegradability, mucoadhesive character, antibacterial antifungal properties, permeation enhancement corneal wound healing effects. The combination chitosan, pH-sensitive polymer, other stimuli-responsive polymers leads increased mechanical strength an improved therapeutic effect ocular time. This review describes gelling systems resulting from association chitosan various emphasis on mechanism gel formation application ophthalmology. It also comprises main techniques evaluation gels, along requirements safety tolerability.
