摘要: Nutritional copper deficiency effects marked changes in the crosslinking of collagen and elastin, presumably relationship to copper’s role as a cofactor for lysyl oxidase. Lysyl oxidase controls one initial steps elastin collagen, i.e., conversion peptidyl lysine or hydroxylysine residues α-aminoadipic-δ-semialdehyde derivatives. Once lysine-derived aldehydic functions are formed, crosslinks occur via aldol Schiff-base type condensations. A decrease degree results biomechanical properties both collagen- elastin-rich tissues. Some these described with respect chick bone aorta. Likewise, penicillamine blocks reactions. In this case, however, it is probably because formation thiazolidine complexes between functions. The administration at different levels young growing chicks allows isolation fibrous insoluble varying aldehyde content.
