摘要: In this paper, we explore a novel avenue of saving power in sensor networks based on predictable mobility the observer (or data sink). Predictable is good model for public transportation vehicles (buses, shuttles and trains), which can act as mobile observers wide area networks. To understand gains due to mobility, collection process queuing system, where random arrivals randomness spatial distribution sensors. Using model, analyze success collection, quantify consumption network. Even though modeling performed network uses only single hop communication, show that savings over static are significant. Finally, present simple observer-driven communication protocol, follows naturally from problem formulation be used achieve predicted savings.
