摘要: Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) gastrointestinal (GI) pathology (gastropathy) accounts for over 70,000 hospitalizations and 7,000 deaths annually in the United States. Not all patients, however, are at equal risk. Major risk factors serious events (hospitalization or death) patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) age, level of disability, concurrent use prednisone, prior NSAID side effects dose. For average patient RA, chance hospitalization death due to a GI event is about 1.3 1.6% course 12 months 1 3 entire disease. Subgroups have risks ranging from nearly zero as high 4 5%/years. A simple scoring system based on multivariate analysis permits clinician directly calculate individual patient.
